The ROLE RESEARCH &TECHNOLOGY PLAY IN ASSESSMENT
The ability to create and update student's individualized education plans (IEP's) is an important skill for teachers to have. However, the ability to keep all of this information documented electronically, to update it regularly, and to manage action plans via the computer and internet that allow for the child, the child's parents, the school's principal and all other involved professionals to have access is even better.
Along with that, having students portfolios saved and available online is also a major step forward. Through this open exchange of information, it's easier to keep all parties involved aware of how the student is performing and how to improve the child's abilities.
The picture above is a sneak-peak of the paper version of one of my student's portfolios, complete with post-it notes to include commentaries and a direct rubric that specifies the areas where she needs improvement. Once online, all of this material will be openly accessed by her parents regularly as well.
